If you are looking at a portfolio - check to see if they have captured the emotion of the day. You may want to arrange a pre-wedding engagement shoot to try out different photographers. You also need to decide if you want formal shots as well as informal.
The key thing is to feel comfortable and confident in your photographer or video maker.
