Information about the area
Leicestershire provides a great mix of peaceful rural settings and buzzing cities - a wide choice of locations for your wedding venue.
For a countryside location, you could have the backdrop of Charnwood Forest or the Vale of Belvoir. Leicestershire has a number of interesting historical towns such as Melton Mowbray and Market Harborough.
And of course there is the county town of Leicester, which enjoys the vibrancy of a large Asian community. Some wedding venues allow outside caterers so you could have a feast prepared by one of the many Indian, Pakistani and Bangladeshi restaurants.
If friends or family want to make a weekend it, they might enjoy the Great Central Railway, which operates an eight-mile steam train ride.
Other places of interest include Ashby-de-la-Zouch, a small town with a Norman castle, the Gothic Belvoir Castle, Bosworth Battlefield at Sutton Cheney and Donington Park, which has a motor racing circuit.
